With 2020 being a stressful year for most people, it is important to keep in mind how self-care can improve both our physical and mental wellbeing. Also, many spas around the world are temporarily closed so we need to take matters into our own hands! Below you will discover the best products I use to enjoy a spa day in the comfort of my own home…
#1 Meditation Apps
Whether you’re enjoying a spa day at home or not, it is so important to create a calm and relaxing atmosphere. There are a few ways you can go about creating a tranquil space, I’d start with either calming music or soothing sounds which you can access on either the Calm or Inscape phone app. You can also just make a playlist on whichever music platform you use!
#2 Essential Oil Diffusers
Another great way to create a spa-like atmosphere at home is to use an essential oil diffuser. Some advantages include a boost in your immune system, pain relief (especially for headaches), a good night’s sleep, and an overall healthy home environment. The InnoGear or Urpower are both wooden essential oil diffusers that are stylish, affordable, and effective. I’d also highly recommend this beautiful ceramic and wood diffuser by Ellia.
#3 Facial Steamers
One of my favorite treatments at a spa are facials, and especially the steaming part. Thankfully, you can buy a facial steamer to use at home whenever you want! For a high end product, I’d recommend the Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Pro Facial Steamer, or the NanoSteamer for a more affordable option. Facial steaming is beneficial for any skin type, as it helps open up pores for a deeper cleanse. This can help remove undetected dirt, and also soften blackheads, plus many other benefits!
#4 Massaging Foot Spas
If you miss going out to get your toenails done, then you must purchase a foot spa! After all, soaking your feet is the best part of any pedicure. A food spa is such an important item for self-care and a quick way to feel relaxed. New and improved models now have a motorized massaging option as well, like the ones made by ACEVIVI or Ivation!
#5 Sheet Masks
I recommend using a sheet mask at least once a week to revitalize your skin. It is also so refreshing! One of my favorite sheet masks is the Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mask, infused with green tea, rice, and algae. The effects are almost instant and you are left with moisturized, glowing skin.
#6 Beauty Rollers
Beauty rollers are certainly trendy, but don’t rule them out just because you’re skeptical of all the hype! A high quality beauty roller for your face can do wonders if you suffer from sinuses, puffiness, or irritation. They also improve the blood circulation in your face which helps your skin look firmer and brighter. My go-to beauty rollers are ATAHANA’s Premium Jade Roller, or the innovative Nurse Jamie Uplift Massaging Beauty Roller.
#7 Face Serums
If you want to take your skincare a step further during a spa day at home, I’d recommend ending with a face serum. There are so many benefits of using a serum on – reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, fatigue, as well as refining pores, helping the skin to retain moisture and so much more. Really affective serums cost a decent amount of money, but investing in your skin is always a good idea. For those with more mature skin, I’d recommend Dr. Dennis Gross’s Collagen Brighten & Firm Vitamin C Serum, or the Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Face Serum for anyone wanting to feel refreshed and fabulous.
#8 Bathrobes
If you’re planning a DIY spa day, you have to be as comfortable as possible! Most spas have you wearing plush bath robes, so there’s no reason why you can’t have the very best at home too. One of the softest, coziest bathrobes are by Richie House. But if you want a bathrobe that’s a little more lightweight, I’d recommend MAXMODA’s cotton kimono robes.
#9 Hair Masks
Spas are usually full-service and that means taking care of your hair as well! You can easily look after your hair at home by using hair masks. If you use a hair mask at least once a week, your hair will quickly become smooth and shiny. There are a variety of other benefits as well, it just depends what hair mask you buy. Also be sure to read the directions carefully because some you leave in, or use while in the shower. I’d recommend purchasing hair masks by Olaplex or Briogeo – you cannot go wrong with either!
#10 Nail Treatments
I only feel as fresh and clean as my cuticles, so don’t overlook nail treatment when taking part in self-care. Cuticle oils can help protect your polish, but whether you’re painting your nails or not, I’d recommend using this. Cuticle oil can also increase nail growth, and help with the overall health and appearance fo your nails. So many different brands offer cuticle products, but the best are by OPI and Butter London.
#11 Dry Brushes
Dry brushing is a great way to exfoliate dry skin, especially during the winter or if you live in a desert climate! Investing in a dry brush can also help detoxify your body due to the increase in blood circulation and the promotion of lymphatic drainage. Some doctors are convinced a dry brush helps remove cellulite as well! I’d go with Rosena’s affordable dry brush or the deluxe Aromatherapy Associates’ 100{fd1018b708dc11e6d771fa6d5ce8eacdee7a6add7c2315f27e48bc4e47591114} natural vegan body brush.
#12 Bath Bombs & Salts
Last but certainly not least, enjoy a soak in your bathtub at home for the ultimate spa-like experience. A warm bath is such a simple treat that can be enhanced even more with bath bombs or salts. Lush is famous for their bath bombs which help to not only moisturize the skin (and more!), but they’ll turn your bath water different colors and leave you smelling incredible. There are so many Lush bath bombs to choose from, but some of my favorites include the Goddess, Hypnosis, Flower Child, and Twilight. As far as bath salts, I’d recommend the classic Epsoak Epsom Salt or Pursoma which helps treat a number of ailments through bathing.
