Marriott International has announced the opening of The Singapore Edition, marking the brand’s first property in Southeast Asia. The 204-key hotel is located just off the west end of Singapore’s upper Orchard Road.
Upon entering, guests will find the lobby and reception, alongside a Lobby Bar with a rose-colored marble pool table and a restaurant, Fysh at Edition, spearheaded by Australian restaurateur, chef and author Josh Niland. It is Niland’s first outpost outside of Australia and offers a sustainable seafood-focused steakhouse menu alongside responsibly sourced vegetables and meats. Anchored by a bar in green scalloped marble, the main dining room seats 80, while a leafy conservatory has capacity for 22 (this indoor garden is home to over 300 plants and 162 suspended preserved fern spheres) and an outdoor pergola provides a perch for a further 44 diners.
From the lobby, a staircase spirals down to the garden courtyard level to a bar lounge. An inconspicuous side door leads to the adjoining Punch Room, Edition’s signature bar concept.
The guestrooms occupy six floors and have deep-seated sofas and hand-sewn damask bed throws. Temperatures are kept cool with layers of curtain sheers, black-out shades and white exterior louvers that can be electronically adjusted to filter the sun while providing both views and privacy.
The second-floor spa houses seven treatment rooms, his-and-her changing suites with sunken vitality thermal pools, an ice fountain, relaxation lounge, sauna, steam room and a gym.
The Singapore Edition also has a rooftop terrace and pool. Accessible via The Roof bar, the 141-foot pool is framed with day beds. The pool’s white-tiled base is embedded with a transparent acrylic oculus that provides them with views into the garden courtyard below. Guests at The Roof can enjoy Southeast Asian favorites and cocktails in the comfort of either sunbed or shaded dining area.
At the heart of the hotel is a timber-decked garden courtyard leading into the event spaces, making it an ideal venue for cocktails, product launches and receptions. Event spaces include an 872-square-foot boardroom and a 340-guest events space with a 6,458-square-foot pillar-less gallery that can be divided into three smaller areas. The spaces are equipped with multimedia technology and floor-to-ceiling glass.
