Grace Bay Resorts, the boutique owner, developer and operator of luxury resorts and residences in Providenciales, Turks & Caicos, has announced the phased opening of South Bank. The resort and marina spans 31 acres and 2,200 feet of ocean frontage; it offers 92 villas, Sky Villas and Boathouse residences that range from one to six bedrooms. The resort is accepting reservations ahead of its opening on November 1, 2024.
South Bank will be home to Turks & Caicos’ first ocean swimming lagoon, providing guests with a protected area for swimming and playing in addition to the open ocean. Located in the heart of South Bank, the five-acre, five-foot-deep lagoon is surrounded by a white-sand beach and home to two palm-fringed islands.
London- and Turks and Caicos-based Blee Halligan Architects designed the masterplan, which is home to four neighborhoods: Ocean Estate Villas, Lagoon Villas, The Boathouses and Arc, all of which are waterfront sanctuaries. Travelers may select from 19 four- to six-bedroom, contemporary Ocean Estate Villas that range from 3,150 to 8,000 square feet. Each villa is complete with an array of amenities, including private pools, Estate butler services, customized culinary and wellness offerings, and more. Set along the curve of the beach and South Bank’s iron shore, every room of every villa provides oceanfront views.
There are also 18 three- to five-bedroom Lagoon Villas perfect for families with children. Located on the lagoon, these accommodations offer direct access to the protected area’s waters and beach, private pools and secluded gardens. Butler services are also available. This neighborhood is designed for those who want to blend beach and boat life, as some of the villas also include private boat docks.
The Boathouses feature 38 one- to three-bedroom attached residences in a village-style community. Located adjacent to the South Bank Marina, one- and two-bedroom Boathouses have a rooftop terrace for watching sunrises and sunsets; each offers a private dock directly off its own terrace. Personal concierge services are also available.
South Bank will also include Arc, a six-story building designed by Italian architect Piero Lissoni slated to open 2026. Guests can choose from 17 one- to five-bedroom Sky Villas, each with a private garden, pool or hot tub, and outdoor shower and kitchen, as well as floor-to-ceiling glass windows and doors that frame ocean views. Arc’s stepped architecture will create large overhangs that offer shaded outdoor spaces, maximizing the functionality of the gardens, pools and al fresco living areas for seamless indoor-outdoor living. The interiors will have open plan living, dining and cooking spaces.
There are two neighborhood pools, including a 150-foot beachfront pool at Arc, 55 private villa pools, a beach fire pit lounge, bicycles, a fitness center, a tennis court, and a pickleball court with classes. The spa will feature four waterfront treatment rooms and offer in-villa massage services upon request. The Boat Concierge will care for all boating needs, while golf cart drivers will transport guests throughout the resort. Elite personal concierges and butlers will assist guests with the finer details, including private boat charters, boating, eco-tours, diving excursions, as well as access to the coral reef research center.
Food and beverage venues at the resort include Lua at South Bank, where Mediterranean-inspired cuisine is prepared by Grace Bay Resorts’ chefs in a beachfront setting; Nuttin Bar offers bespoke cocktails on the lagoon islands; and personalized chef services are also available for in-villa dining experiences.
Good to know: Inaugural savings of up to 35 percent can be made while booking online. South Bank is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
